How MGA Skill Testing Events Work
During our skill testing events, students have the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they’ve mastered in class, performing each one individually in front of a certified judge. Every skill is evaluated and scored on a scale from 0 to 3--
After all events are completed, the scores are totaled to determine the student’s overall proficiency. Students who achieve an overall score of 80% or higher will be awarded a certificate of achievement, recognizing their successful completion of Skill Testing for that level.
Skill testing is a positive, encouraging experience that celebrates growth and motivates students to reach new milestones!

At MGA, we are committed to ensuring that every student progresses with confidence and mastery. To move from one level to the next, students must meet specific proficiency standards:
- Skill Testing:
Students must achieve a score of 80% or higher during skill testing to demonstrate readiness for advancement. - In-Gym Competition Performance:
For some levels, earning a minimum score at one of our in-gym competitions is also required to move up. - Coach’s Invitation:
Certain advanced levels require not only successful skill testing and competition scores, but also a formal invitation from our coaching staff, ensuring each athlete is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
Ready for the Next Challenge?
Once your child has met the requirements to advance, their invitation to move up to the next level is valid for 30 days. We encourage families to take advantage of this exciting opportunity while your child’s skills and confidence are at their peak!
If you decide to wait beyond 30 days, no worries—your child will simply need a quick skill assessment from one of our qualified coaches or may need to re-qualify to ensure they’re ready for the new challenges ahead.
Moving up to the next level is a wonderful way to keep your child motivated, engaged, and growing as a gymnast. We’re here to support their journey every step of the way—let’s celebrate their progress and keep the momentum going!
