What is skill testing?
During skill testing events, students perform what they have learned in class, one skill at a time, in front of a testing judge. Each skill receives a score from 0-3 per skill - a "0" if they cannot perform the skill at all and a "3" if they can perform it with excellent form and technique. Each score is recorded on a score card that parents receive at the end of the testing session.
Once student have been tested on each event, scores are added up to show the student's overall proficiency. If the student scores 80% or higher overall, they will receive a certificate stating that they have passed the Skill Testing for that level.

How will i know if my child is ready to move up?
At MGA, we have special requirements for students to move from one level to the next. A student is considered to have "passed" a proficiency standard for their level by receiving a score of 80% or higher at skill testing. However, some levels also require a minimum score at one of our in-gym competitions to move-up, and others require a skill testing score, an in-gym competition score, and a coaches' invitation. See the flow chart below for details:
After qualifying, how long do i have to make a decision about my child moving up?
Once your child has met the minimum requirement(s) to move up to the next level, your invitation to the next level is good for 30 days. After 30 days, if you decide you want your child to move-up, they will either need a quick skill-assessment from a qualified coach, or they will need to re-qualify.
